....but what is a Gang Show?

Sparkly Costumes 2023

Gang Show is a kind of variety show, based on the original idea of the late Ralph Reader CBE.  Taking place all over the world Gang Show is an activity to bring the young people together in a large-scale activity.

Wellingborough Gang Show is run by Wellingborough District Scouts, inviting along to join them, Girlguiding East Northamptonshire Division and Nene Valley District Scouts.  The Wellingborough Gang Show has evolved over time and is now in its 43rd year.  Following a couple of years break due to Covid 19 we returned in 2023 and for the first time invited our older Beavers to join us.  This is something we have continued this year encouraging Beavers (must be 7 on 31st December 2023), Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders to come and share in the experience.

Sparkly Costumes 2023

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the young people on stage at the Castle Theatre with a smile on their face, dressed in sparkling costumes entertaining their families, friends and the local community.  Although, being involved in the Gang Show is a lot of hard work and commitment.

We endeavour to have a lot of fun along the way, but we do need the young people to put in time to listen to music and learn words and moves to be able to create a stage worthy performance.  To do this we also need the support and commitment from you their parents and carers.

Rehearsals

Young people taking part in Gang Show are expected to turn up for rehearsals on a Sunday afternoon (full dates and venues listed in the "Gang Members" area) where they should wear casual comfortable clothing and footwear.  Uniform is not required at rehearsals but will be required for the show week and photographs.

Please send your young person with a drink.  Water and squash will be available free of charge for the topping up of bottles.  We also run a tuckshop, with any profits going towards the Gang Show itself.  Young people can bring a small amount of money if you should choose, this is not mandatory.

Your young person may be invited to attend some Thursday evening rehearsals at Dale End Scout Hut depending on their role in the show.
